HHSRS quick guide - lighting

The Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act is now a law and will come into force on 20 March 2019 so we’re continuing our series of quick guides to the hazards listed as part of the Human Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).

This quick guide is specifically focused on lighting, one of the 29 hazards. Lighting is considered crucial for health and includes both natural and artificial light as issues with either could potentially be dangerous.  In this quick guide we cover:

  • What the HHSRS says about lighting
  • What landlords’ responsibilities will be
  • How to prevent lighting issues in a property
