The effect of dropping temperatures on a property have been well-documented, not least by us. Our Autumn Maintenance Checklist covers everything property managers need to know, and the planned preventative maintenance they should have underway, in order to prepare their properties for the autumn and winter seasons.

One of the most important elements of any home during the winter is the heating and, in turn, the boiler. If the boiler breaks down, the central heating and hot water systems will not work, making for a frosty time for everyone inside the property. With that in mind, it's vital to ensure that the boiler works properly, lest the stairs become a ski slope, or worse, occupants become unhappy.

Now is the time to ensure that there are no underlying or present problems with the boilers in the properties you manage that could develop into serious issues as the months go on. If boiler's aren't kept up to specification, it is likely they will be need to be serviced more and more frequently. This is an important part of the preparation for the coldest months of the year and if you sort existing issues with a boiler out now, it will be cheaper than if a problem needs to be fixed in the middle of winter, when engineers may raise their prices for reactive repair.

Our Boiler Maintenance Checklist aims to help you diagnose the problems that might be plaguing your boiler and preventing it from working as efficiently as it should be. In many cases, the boiler will have a manual that allows you or your tenants to fix certain problems yourselves, but there will be some that require the services of an engineer to resolve.
