HHSRS Quick Guide to Crowding and Space

We know we've mentioned it quite a lot recently but the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act is coming on 20th March 2019 - crowding and space is one of the issues that could cause a property to be unfit from this date. This is on the basis that crowding and space is one of the 29 hazards listed in the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) which will be used to assess the standard of fitness so it's well worth understanding.

We've been working through each of these hazards and this week we've created a quick guide to Crowding and Space.  In it we cover:

  • What the HHSRS says about Crowding and Space
  • What overcrowding means in the Housing Act 1985
  • How this breaks down for space per person
