Tips for Your Tenants Over Christmas!

Written by Zahraa Valu | 17/12/13 19:24
It’s a time when Christmas woolly jumpers are donned for festive cheer and comedy value, but the statistics from the last week show we may have to start wearing our full wardrobe (comedy or not) indoors just to stay warm. In the past week we have seen that 20% of problems reported to landlords and agents are related to heating issues.

In light of this discovery, we have posted some expert tips for keeping your boiler working over the winter.  If you happened to miss them, here is a short summary, just in time to circulate to your tenants before you wind down for the festive season…

1) Check the pressure of your boiler system, this should read between 1.2 and 1.5 when the system is cold i.e. not been on. Anything lower could be damaging your boiler.

2) If you will be away from the property for more than a couple of days don’t turn your heating off. Keep it on a low heat for at least a couple of hours per day to reduce the chances of burst pipes.

3) Ensure you know where your water stopcock and your gas shut off valves are in the case of an emergency.

These statistics were compiled by Fixflo, a picture-based repair reporting system that makes life easier for property managers, landlords and tenants.

By guiding tenants to identify their precise issue, Fixflo gets you the information you need about a repair without time consuming calls, emails and inspections. This not only saves the agent time and money on their property management, it also offers a great USP when pitching for new instructions.
